Unlocking the Unknown: C-MAP® Announces Significant Chart Enhancements for the Irish Sea, Land’s End (in the UK), and Central Europe

 

Updated: July 30, 2026 - C-MAP, a leader in digital marine cartography and cloud-based mapping, today announced its first major European chart update of 2026, delivering significant enhancements for recreational boaters and anglers across the continent.

Boaters today aren't just looking for a chart; they are looking for the confidence to explore further. By unlocking high-resolution detail in notorious stretches like Land’s End and the Irish Sea, and providing unprecedented clarity for over 1,100 German lakes, CMAP continues to remove the barriers to adventure.

Updates include:

Coastal Improvements in the UK across

  • Cornwall
  • Isle of Mann
  • Irish Sea
  • Isle of Arran

 

1268 Lakes improved across Europe.

  • 1146 in Germany alone, with the majority in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
  • 19 Lakes improved in Switzerland including Lungerersee, Sempachersee and Lac de Neuchatel
  • 14 lakes improved across Sweden in Västra Götaland, Dalarna and Jämtland
  • Other improved areas include Ireland, Northern Ireland, Austria & Finland
  • 44 new lakes across Switzerland including Lac d’Emosson, Lac de Mauvoison and Lac des Dix.
  • 28 new lakes across Austria including Wallersee, Zeller See and Grabensee

 

Major upgrades to Germany’s inland waterways bring sharper shoreline detail, more accurate waterbody mapping, and enhanced bridge and lock information for a richer on-water experience.

a. Enhanced geometry and positioning for 7000 bridges

b. Telephone numbers and VHF channels for 50 bridges

c. Vertical and horizonal clearances for 200 bridges

 

Shaded Relief and Satellite imagery are exclusive to C-MAP Reveal and Reveal X and are available on a range of chartplotters from the Lowrance®, Simrad® & B&G® brands. Vegetation and bottom hardness layers are exclusive to Reveal X Charts.
